Nokia has set prices and begun to take pre-orders for its Lumia 920 and 820
models in Russia, hinting at the amount UK customers will have to pay for
the new mobile phones.
The Lumia 920 will cost 24,990 roubles (£496), while the 820 will go on the
market for 19,990 roubles (£396).
Nokia has also
announced pricing in Germany and Italy.
In Germany, the Lumia 920 will cost 649 euros (£517) and the 820 model will be
available for 499 euros (£398). In Italy, the 920 will be priced slightly
lower at 599 euros.
Russian customers can immediately pre-order the phones, with the 920 available
in red, white and black.
Both devices will be available in November, in time for the key Christmas
sales season.
The Lumia 920, which runs Microsoft's
Windows Phone, is Nokia's attempt to catch up with Apple's
iPhone and a string of popular phones using Google's Android software, such
as Samsung's Galaxy models. The iPhone 5 retails for prices starting at
£529, while Carphone Warehouse sells the Samsung
Galaxy S3 from £519.
However, when the phone was unveiled earlier this month, it failed to make an
impression among analysts. Many felt it would struggle to compete with its
rivals and some were unsettled by Nokia's refusal to say when the 920, along
with the 820 model, would go on sale and for how much.
Despite news of pricing in Europe, Nokia today refused to specify how much the devices would cost in the UK and when they would go on sale.
